The Chronicles of Narnia have been a major staple of children’s literature for decades, spawning several films and even Netflix series.

What’s on the Chronicles of Narnia Reading Order?

There are only seven books in the Chronicles of Narnia series, but they were released out of chronological order. So here they are in the intended chronological order. However, if you’re interested, you can sort by year and get the release order of the books. The more recent film adaptations of the books are also included even though they differ slightly from the plot of the books. This is because watching the film after reading the book can often provide some interesting insight into the creative process surrounding the adaptation. And with the Netflix shows coming, we highly recommend becoming familiar with the books now.

As with our other timelines, feel free to reach out to us if you see anything that should be corrected. Thank you, and enjoy!

Recommended Reading Order

We would normally recommend that you read a book series in its release order. However, this is one instance where we recommend chronological order. The books often come packed that way. If you want, read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe first, since Lewis wrote it first. Then, go back and read The Magician’s Nephew and proceed from there in chronological order.

If you watch the movies, the best place to start would be The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Also the fact that they started with that film should be an indicator on a good place to start with the books.
