Furor is a madman/creature in book 2 of The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser. He is always seen with Occasion, an old hag who gives him strength, and makes it so he is unbeatable when she can talk.

He embodies certain passions like fury, violence, rage, etc., but to a large extreme. He goes completely berserk on both Guyon and Pyrocles, completely unmanageable and difficult to wound.

He is only ever restrained after Guyon stops up the mouth of Occasion, weakening Furor and allowing Guyon to wrestle him and bind him with cords.

This fits with the theme of temperance in book 2, where Sir Guyon is the main protagonist who must deal with these different extremes.
